👍 Pros

  • One bottle covers everything — nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium plus iron and micros
  • Pump top doses 1 mL per press, so there is no measuring cap to fumble
  • Genuinely forgiving: safe for fish, shrimp and snails at sensible doses
  • Dosing chart scales cleanly from low to medium light without extra bottles

👎 Cons

  • A demanding high-light, CO2 tank will burn through it quickly
  • Provides nothing at the roots — heavy root-feeders still want tabs

Why it is the easy answer

Feeding plants is where a lot of beginners overthink things, and Easy Green is the antidote. It is a single all-in-one liquid carrying the three macronutrients — nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium — plus iron and the full set of trace micros. An all-in-one liquid dosed a few times a week covers the nutrient needs of most planted tanks, and the pump top makes dosing literally a matter of counting presses: one pump is one millilitre, roughly the dose for 40 litres.

Where it fits, and where it stops

On a low- to medium-light tank it is close to foolproof — dose once or twice a week, do your normal water changes, and plants stay fed. Its only real limits are at the extremes: a high-light, CO2-injected aquascape will drink it faster, and because it works through the water column it does nothing directly at the roots. Heavy root-feeders such as swords and big crypts still want a tab in the substrate. Start low, watch the plants, and adjust.

How it fits with our other picks

If you want a more concentrated, competition-grade liquid, step up to the 2Hr Aquarist APT Complete; for hungry roots, pair Easy Green with Seachem Flourish Tabs. Compare every option on our plant fertilizers hub, and get the foundation right with the correct substrate and lighting for your plants.

⚖️ The bottom line

The default first fertiliser for a planted tank. It removes almost all the guesswork — one pump bottle, a simple dosing chart, and healthy plants without a shelf of separate additives.

Easy Green All-in-One — frequently asked questions

Do I still need root tabs if I dose Easy Green?

For most stem plants, mosses and epiphytes like Anubias and Java fern, an all-in-one liquid such as Easy Green is all you need — those plants feed mostly through the water column. Heavy root-feeders like Amazon swords and larger crypts do better with a root tab pushed into the substrate near their base, in addition to the liquid. Liquid for the water, tabs for hungry roots is the simplest way to think about it.

How much should I dose for a low-tech versus a high-tech tank?

Follow the pump: roughly 1 mL per 10 US gallons (about 40 L). On a low-tech tank dose once a week; on a brighter medium-light tank dose twice a week. A CO2-injected high-light tank grows fast and eats nutrients quickly, so you will dose more often — start at the label rate, watch the plants, and increase only if you see deficiency signs like pale or holey leaves.

Is Easy Green safe for shrimp and snails?

Yes, at the recommended dose it is fine for shrimp, snails and fish — it contains only a small amount of copper. As with any fertiliser, do not massively overdose, and if you keep sensitive cherry or Caridina shrimp, start at half the suggested amount and build up while watching them.
